Search and rescue authorities have recovered the body of a Navy pilot who went missing a week ago, after the helicopter he rode crashed off the coast of Virginia.

The Navy’s Fleet Forces Command said in a written statement that divers found the body of Lt. Sean Christopher Snyder, 39, of Santee, Calif., on Tuesday, The Associated Press reported.

The crash on Jan. 8 of the MH-53E Sea Dragon killed three of the five who were aboard. Two of the victims were pulled from the water and taken to the hospital, but later died. Two others have been released.

The helicopter crew members were taking part in a routine mine countermeasure training mission, when it crashed. The cause is still under investigation.
