JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The state Court of Appeals will consider an appeal from a Gulfport man serving 60 years in prison for dealing drugs.
The appeal from Johnny Lee Floyd is among dozens the court will consider during its January-February term. The court will not hear oral arguments.
Floyd was found guilty in 2012 of possession with intent to distribute cocaine in a three-day trial involving a drug arrest by Gulfport police Oct. 20, 2010.
Floyd, with three prior felony drug convictions, was prosecuted as a habitual offender.
Under state law, a habitual offender can be sentenced to the maximum penalty with a prison term to be served day for day.
