SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois National Guard says the last of its soldiers has completed active duty after being called up during last week’s winter storm and frigid temperatures.

Guard officials said Wednesday that the last soldier finished work Tuesday. About three dozen guardsmen helped the Illinois Department of Transportation and other state agencies. Soldiers were mobilized companies in Champaign, Crestwood, Decatur, Galva, Joliet, Lawrenceville, Machesney Park, North Riverside and Springfield.

Guard soldiers repaired 65 IDOT trucks and equipment and serviced 30 trucks.
