HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - More than two dozen school systems in Connecticut are opening 90 minutes to two hours late because of slippery road conditions.

The National Weather Service is warning drivers in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts about the potential for black ice and fog Wednesday morning. Forecasters say roads that were soaked by rain on Tuesday could be slippery because temperatures dipped to and below the freezing mark overnight.

Bristol, Colchester, Hamden, Meriden and Windham are among the towns and school districts opening late Wednesday.

The Weather Service says the threat of black ice should diminish by 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. as temperatures climb back above freezing.

No major delays or cancellations are reported at Bradley International Airport.
