NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - North Charleston has approved a plan to sell a former naval hospital to developers including Donald Trump Jr.
The plan approved by City Council on Tuesday calls for $3 million to be paid up front and another $2 million to be paid by Sept. 30 for the 24-acre property.
In December 2012, North Charleston officials announced plans to transform the Charleston Naval Base’s old 10-story hospital into a facility for senior living. At one time, the hospital served thousands of active duty and retired military along the South Carolina coast and beyond.
The deal approved Tuesday allows the city to now sell that property. The Trump organization on Monday described Donald Trump Jr. as a minority investor in the project and not the developer or general partner.
