COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A new exhibit is taking a look at part of Columbia’s civil rights past.
On Wednesday, the City of Columbia and ColumbiaSC63 are holding an opening reception at The Gallery at City Hall for “Freedom Now: Columbia, S.C., and the Modern Civil Rights Movement.”
The exhibit matches up historical photographs with images taken last year during events celebrating civil rights-related events that happened a half-century ago, in 1963.
Organizers say they hope the exhibit will help shed some light on the role that Columbia has played in the civil rights movement.
