MARION, Iowa (AP) - The mayor of Marion may remain in office, now that the City Council has voted 5-0 to rule that he meets residency requirements.

Cedar Rapids television station KGAN says (https://bit.ly/L4ochk ) people packed a hearing Tuesday in the Cedar Rapids suburb. The topic: Does Mayor Allen “Snooks” Bouska live here?

A group called Citizens for a Better Marion says Bouska hadn’t lived consistently in his Marion residence since being elected in 2011. The group hired a private investigator who watched the mayor go to and from a home in Hiawatha.

Bouska says he manages several pieces of property, including the one in Hiawatha. He says he’s in Marion 70 percent of the time and that it is his voting address, among other things.
