Anchorage seeks election workers

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The municipal clerk’s office in Anchorage is again making a pitch for residents to sign up as election workers.

Deputy clerk Amanda Moser says there’s a shortage of election workers across the country and that includes Alaska’s largest city.

The municipality recruits nearly 600 workers for 122 polling places on Election Day. The municipal election this year is April 1.

Election workers must be Anchorage registered voters. They must be nonpartisan at polling places and must be able to accurately process paperwork.

The job pays $9.50 per hour for both training and working on Election Day.
