Texas State University authorities evacuated students after receiving a bomb scare at one of its dormitories Tuesday morning.
KXAN.com reported that police sent out a campus alert just before 2 a.m., and then shut down several streets nearby a nine-floor dorm that serves as home to 230 students.
Police wouldn’t say if other buildings were involved in the alert or evacuated.
The alert was issued after a Texas State officer reported that a truck was parked near the LBJ Student Center. Upon investigating, the officer discovered a “hoax bomb device” in the cabin, authorities said, in Fox News. Officers destroyed the device and took one person into custody.
Police haven’t identified that suspect, but say he’s not a student, KXAN.com reported.
