OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The National Weather Service says there’s a high fire danger in Oklahoma on Tuesday because of strong winds and low humidity.
Forecasters issued a red flag warning from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday in southwest Oklahoma because of the weather conditions. The weather service expects temperatures in the mid-50s and low 60s, with northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Humidity is at 15 to 20 percent in the affected areas.
Residents throughout Oklahoma are urged to avoid outdoor burning because of the windy, dry conditions. Just one county - Stephens County - has a burn ban currently in place.
Several grassfires popped up over the weekend and on Monday, but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish them.
