STOKE, England (AP) - Stephen Ireland has agreed on a permanent move to Stoke as the Premier League club also announced the arrival of striker John Guidetti on loan.

The Ireland midfielder was on a season-long loan from Aston Villa but Stoke says that the deal has been made permanent.

Ireland has scored three goals for Mark Hughes’ team this season. His transfer allowed the Stoke manager to bring in Guidetti, a promising 21-year-old Manchester City striker, for the rest of the season.

Ireland played for City under Hughes before joining Aston Villa in August 2010.
