SEATTLE (AP) - A sex offender who fled Canada pleaded guilty Tuesday in Seattle Municipal Court to misdemeanor charges of harassment and resisting arrest.
The Seattle Times reports (https://bit.ly/1b0e7It ) 48-year-old Michael Sean Stanley was sentenced to about a seven months in jail with credit for time served since his arrest in October.
Stanley had been monitored in Canada but cut off his electronic-monitoring bracelet and was able to enter the United States last year. Canada did not seek his extradition.
Seattle authorities said they had no reason to arrest him but asked him to register as a sex offender. Then, he was arrested on Oct. 22 and accused of threatening someone who asked him to be quiet.
Stanley is separately accused of sexually assaulting a teen. That allegation is still under investigation.
