LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has named a veteran of business and political public relations as his new communications director
Jarrod Agen began the job Tuesday. He most recently was vice president for marketing and communications for Empowered-U, a technology and education company based in Campbell in northern California.
The 36-year-old has managed communications for Republican gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidates in California and Nevada. He also had communications jobs for the U.S. departments of Homeland Security and State and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Snyder says Agen is accustomed to “fast-paced environments” and can help tell the story of Michigan’s “comeback.” Snyder is up for re-election this year.
Agen replaces Jeff Holyfield, who moved to the Michigan Lottery in November.
