CHICAGO (AP) - Executives of two Illinois companies are joining the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on her first trade mission.

Chicagoan Penny Pritzker says she’ll be traveling to Mexico in early February, with representatives from 17 different companies.

The group will include representatives from Medstrat, a Downers Grove orthopedic software specialist, and Schaumburg-based telecommunications company Motorola Solutions.

Pritzker says the mission is part of her job to connect U.S. businesses with potential customers across the globe. Pritzker’s office notes Mexico is the United States’ second-largest export market and third-largest trading partner. More than $1.25 billion in goods and services are traded between the countries every day.

The delegation will go to Mexico City and Monterrey.

Pritzker also says she plans a mission to the Middle East in the spring.
