ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - A rival casino has hired a player development executive from the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel, which shut down on Monday.

The Golden Nugget Atlantic City says it has hired Adrian Ford as its new executive director of player development.

He served in that same capacity for the past seven years at the Atlantic Club, which closed its doors after being sold in a bankruptcy court auction to two competitors.

About 1,600 employees lost their jobs.

The Maryland Live! casino has hired a few dozen to work there.

Hundreds of former Atlantic Club workers attended an outreach session Monday by their union, which gave them $20 grocery store cards and helped them file for unemployment.
