DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Alcoa says it has completed a $300 million expansion of the Davenport Works plant the produces aluminum sheet products for the automotive industry.
The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1eCjJv1 ) Alcoa executives made the announcement Tuesday during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where manufacturers are focusing attention on increased use of aluminum in vehicles.
Alcoa chairman and chief executive officer Klaus Kleinfeld says in a news release that “2014 marks the beginning of dramatic growth for aluminum in the auto sector.”
The expansion of the Davenport Works created 150 full-time jobs at the plant in Riverdale.
The company expanded at Riverdale after receiving incentives from the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
Alcoa also is expanding at plants in Alcoa, Tenn., and at a joint venture in Saudi Arabia.
