NEW YORK (AP) - Long Island Rail Road trains are running again in both directions after service was suspended between New York City’s Penn Station and the busy Jamaica station.
The railroad’s parent agency is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The MTA says service was suspended shortly before 10 a.m. Monday because of a signal problem.
Eastbound service came back around 11 a.m. Monday. The MTA announced around noon that westbound trains had resumed.
Trains running between Jamaica and Penn Station are making added local stops
The LIRR is the nation’s busiest commuter rail line. It carries an average of 301,000 customers each weekday.
