SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - An animal welfare organization is offering a $5,000 reward for information about two suspected dog poisonings earlier this month in northwest Spokane.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/nITzed ) that the Humane Society of the United States is putting up the money.

The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) says a dog named Charlie ate ground beef laced with white granules. Tests of his blood showed phosphorous and he was rushed to surgery. Charlie survived and the meat is being tested at Washington State University.

A dog that lives across the street from Charlie had an unexplained seizure on New Year’s Day. Investigators think the two cases may be linked.
