NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - A state panel looking at how to attract and retain more blue-collar jobs in Delaware is meeting to finalize its recommendations to the General Assembly.

Lawmakers established the Blue Collar Task Force last year, citing Delaware’s stubborn employment rate, which has hovered around 7 percent for most of the past year, and manufacturing base that was hit hard by the recession of 2008.

The task force, which meets Monday in New Castle, includes Democratic lawmakers, cabinet officials, and representatives of trade groups, organized labor and chambers of commerce.

The legislation establishing the task force calls for a report to be submitted by Jan. 23.
