NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s Norwich University is going to be hosting a military obstacle course race to raise money for a scholarship fund in memory of a graduate who went on to become a Navy Seal and was later killed in Afghanistan.
The second-annual Brian Bill Memorial Challenge will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The Brian R. Bill Memorial Scholarship benefits the sons and daughters of U.S. Navy SEALs and those who have served in U.S. special operations forces.
Bill graduated from Norwich in 2001. He was one of 22 Seals killed when the helicopter they were riding in was shot down in Afghanistan in 2011.
The five-mile race is open to everyone. It includes more than 20 obstacles and challenges such as a cargo net, paint ball firing and rope obstacles.
