Senior-level staff salary rates at Covered California, the state-run health exchange, as of Feb. 3, according to records complied by state Controller John Chiang. The agency lists 861 employees, including about 480 hourly-wage workers who mostly assist with sign-ups at call centers. Nineteen employees have salary rates equal to at least $100,000 annually, although two attorneys are hourly workers and might not tally 40-hour work weeks.

-Garrison Rios, director of communications and marketing: $165,000.

-Kathleen M. Keeshen, general counsel: $159,996.
-John E. Hiber, chief financial officer: $148,992.
-Karen V. Ruiz, project director, information technology: $144,000.
-Lavonne E. Coen, deputy chief operations officer: $140,004.
