LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A new presiding judge has been chosen in Nebraska’s 3rd Judicial District, which is based in Lancaster County.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1ecMEnq) that Lancaster County Judge Susan Strong is the presiding judge for 2014.

The Nebraska Supreme Court announced Strong’s selection after reviewing the nominations her fellow county court judges submitted.

Presiding judges oversee court services within their district and serve as the point of contact for state and local agencies. They’re also responsible for hiring and disciplining county court staff and setting local policies.

Strong has been a county court judge since 2006. She also serves on various committees for the state judges association. And Strong previously served as presiding judge in 2008 and 2009.
