BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) - Boca Juniors played out a 0-0 draw Sunday at Newell’s Old Boys as the second-half of Argentina’s split season opened.
It was a lackluster match, the most controversial moment coming in 34th minute when referee Mauro Vigliano declined to call what looked like a penalty by Juan Forlin against Maxi Rodriguez.
Like most countries in Latin America, Argentina splits its season in two.
In another match on Sunday, Rosario Central got off to a winning start, defeating Quilmes 1-0.
On Saturday it was: Argentinos Juniors 2, Godoy Cruz 1; Atletico Rafaela 1, All Boys 1; Racing Club 3, Colon 0. And on Friday: Estudiantes 1, Arsenal 0; Velez Sarsfield 0, Tigre 0; Olimpo 2, San Lorenzo 0.
