BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man is facing a second charge of stealing an historic document and trying to sell it.

Patrick J. Rooney pleaded not guilty last month to stealing a page from a 1791 book from Fletcher Free Library in Burlington and trying to sell it to the University of Vermont Bailey-Howe Library.

He’s been cited to appear in court again on Tuesday on suspicion of petty larceny and sale of stolen property. The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1leaIg4 ) that he’s accused of taking the “Chittenden County Road Commissioners 1828-1831” from the same library. The publication has been returned.

The 55-year-old Rooney could not be reached for comment on the latest charge. There is no phone listing in his name.
