ABILENE, Texas (AP) - John Jordan and Rashawn Thomas scored 20 points each and Texas A&M-CC needed a big 3-pointer in the final seconds to edge Abilene Christian 71-69 on Saturday.
Abilene Christian (8-16, 2-8 Southland Conference) led by 16 points in the first half, but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-14, 8-4) closed the gap to six at and trailed the Wildcats 35-29 at intermission.
Texas A&M-CC regained the lead 41-38 on three consecutive Thomas scores, 3 minutes in to the period. Abilene Christian fell further behind but rallied from a 10 point deficit in the final minutes, tying the score at 68 with 1:36 left.
The Wildcats made a free throw and led 69-68 before Brandon Pye hit a 3-pointer with 7 seconds left giving the Islanders the victory.
Julian Edmonson scored 18 points for the Wildcats, who shot 55 percent, including 10 of 20 from long range in the losing effort.
