ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines has a new chief operating officer.
Directors have approved the appointment of Gil West to the position, effective March 1. West will also work as executive vice president of the air carrier.
West joined Delta in 2008 as senior vice president for airport customer service and played a key role integrating operations after Delta merged with Northwest Airlines.
West took over the airline’s internal maintenance operations in 2012.
West succeeds Stephen E. Gorman, who is retiring. He has led the company’s operations division since 2007.
