Tony Danza, who played starring roles in the long-running sitcoms, “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss?” has a new job: Juror No. 3 for a felony drug case set for Manhattan Supreme Court.
Mr. Danza, 62, said to the New York Daily News that the last time he was inside the Centre Street courthouse was to face his own charges for fighting at a Central Park West restaurant in 1984. Then, he was convicted of misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief for attacking a security guard at the posh Mayflower Hotel’s restaurant, the Conservatory.
This time, he’ll be entering the courtroom to decide the fate of Lester Brown, 27, who’s charged with selling cocaine to a woman in Brooklyn in 2012.
Mr. Danza said he’s proud to serve.
“I’m a big believer in our system, and it does give you a bit of civic pride to come and do your duty,” he said, in he New York Daily News.
And Mr. Brown’s attorney, Damien Brown, who is not related, doesn’t mind the star treatment.
“Like every other juror that’s on the jury, he said he could be fair. There was no reason to try to get rid of him from either side,” the attorney said, in the New York Daily News.
