PALATINE, Ill. (AP) - The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing to fine a suburban Chicago company $155,000 for alleged safety violations.
OSHA said Wednesday it cited Palatine-based Arlington Plating Co. for repeat violations that included lack of machine guards and exposed openings on electrical boxes following an August 2013 inspection. OSHA says 20 of 25 violations were serious.
Officials say the inspection was carried out through a program that targets facilities with a higher-than-average illness and injury rate. OSHA says Arlington Plating was cited three times in 2010 and twice in 2012.
The company may request a conference with OSHA’s area director or contest the findings.
A company spokesman says Arlington Plating is “working diligently to understand and comply with OSHA’s concerns and violations.”
