CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - A prosecutor says no criminal charges will be filed following an investigation into the construction of three temporary housing facilities at the Chesapeake Correctional Center.
The Virginian-Pilot (https://bit.ly/1c8gAkJ) reports Commonwealth’s Attorney Nancy Parr made the decision Wednesday in a letter to State Police.
Mayor Alan Krasnoff had asked for the State Police investigation into the $7.2 million Chesapeake jail project that was marred by cost overruns and miscues. The project was intended to ease inmate crowding.
The state Board of Corrections last year approved a waiver for the city to use the buildings for no more than seven years until it comes up with a permanent plan.
