JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The Juneau School Board and the teachers union have ratified a two-year contract that is estimated to cost the district nearly $2 million.
KTOO reports (https://is.gd/QrbjxQ) each teacher will receive nearly $1,500 from a health trust fund.
Teachers will also receive a 1.5 percent salary increase this year, retroactive to Jan. 10, and a 1 percent raise next year.
The agreement calls for the school district to increase its contribution to health insurance in both years of the contract. Teachers will also get an increase in the amount each receives for professional development.
Instructors will have fewer personal leave days, but more of those will be paid leave.
The Juneau Education Association has about 360 members, but this agreement will cover all district employees, which number more than 650 people.
