LOS ANGELES (AP) - Because of bidding rules, Los Angeles Unified School District officials are being denied full access to a digital curriculum that the district purchased last year.
The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1jkwujW ) that the curriculum, developed by Pearson for use on school iPads, is off-limits because the company is likely to bid on a separate contract with the district. Rules limit contact between a bidder and the district.
Some of the curriculum is available for use on the devices, but officials have wanted to review all of it.
A new bid process began Friday to decide which vendors will provide devices and instructional materials for laptops.
District lawyer Greg McNair says officials will be unable to contact Pearson until a vote to approve the laptop contract comes before the Board of Education.
