LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - A southwest Ohio raceway is debuting a new track and a new indoor grandstand with the beginning of its inaugural racing season.
The races Friday night at Miami Valley Raceway in Lebanon begin more than 60 days of racing planned through May. The site also is home to Miami Valley Gaming’s 1,600 video lottery terminals and a racing simulcast center.
Miami Valley Gaming and Miami Valley Raceway officials say they are continuing a harness racing tradition that has been part of the Warren County community for more than 60 years.
The former owner of the Lebanon raceway has sued to block the transfer of a harness-racing license to a racino under construction in Dayton. The operators of the Dayton track say they believe both can thrive in the region.
