MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - An insurance company has won a legal round in its effort to avoid providing information about health coverage sought by the state of Vermont.
But a top state official leading Vermont’s push for universal health care says the ruling won’t do significant damage to that effort.
The Burlington Free Press (www.burlingtonfreepress.com/) reports that the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City ruled for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in the case.
The company had challenged a Vermont law allowing the state to collect information from insurance companies and health providers. Director of Health Reform Robin Lunge says the ruling is narrow and won’t have a big impact.
