HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A partner in a Stamford investment firm who helped finance the successful independent film “The Blair Witch Project” says he’s running for State Treasurer.
Bob Eick (EYEK) said he filed the necessary paperwork on Friday to run as a Republican candidate.
Eick, a partner in CRT Capital Group, said the state needs someone with financial experience to oversee Connecticut’s pension funds. He called Democratic Treasurer Denise Nappier a “career politician” who has cost Connecticut state employees millions in lost pension funds due to poor performance.
Nappier, first elected in 1999, has said she has the “proven experience” to be re-elected.
Trumbull First Selectman Timothy Herbst is also seeking the GOP endorsement.
Eick received an executive producer credit for “Blair Witch.” He has been involved with at least seven other films.
