MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte is visiting a Merrimack company that builds automation systems for medical devices to learn more about concerns over a new tax.
Ayotte is co-sponsoring a bill that would repeal the Medical Device Tax, which applies a 2.3 excise tax on medical devices ranging from surgical tools to wheelchairs.
She’s visiting McClellan Automation Systems on Friday to discuss the company’s business with the medical industry.
Ayotte says New Hampshire is home to about 50 medical device companies employing about 3,800 people. She says the tax will put some of those jobs in jeopardy
