CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A woman has been sentenced to prison and ordered to pay more than $250,000 in restitution after she was convicted of embezzling from her employer.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/kpvssv9 ) Melissa Fenster was sentenced Wednesday.

Fenster worked at Rocky Mountain Oilfield Warehouse and was in charge of paying the company’s bills.

Company owner Phillip Cooper told police Fenster was fired in July 2012, and afterward he and an accountant discovered many unauthorized payments.

Fenster was accused of using company money to pay for cellphones for herself, her boyfriend and two sons and of charging personal purchases at Staples, Home Depot and other businesses.

In court Wednesday, Fenster said the charges were the result of a misunderstanding. She also said she had become desperate.
