CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan supports the expansion of natural gas pipeline capacity as a way to ease energy costs in New Hampshire.

During her State of the State address Thursday, Hassan said the state must diversify energy sources and develop a long-term strategy to control costs, create jobs and improve reliability.

Last month, Hassan and the five other New England governors asked the region’s power grid operator for technical help to seek proposals to build transmission equipment and public works to deliver enough electricity to serve between 1.2 million and 3.6 million homes.
