JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri senators have taken action to bar a Kansas City attorney from ever serving on the state Conservation Commission.
The Senate refused to allow Gov. Jay Nixon to withdraw his appointment of Tim Dollar on Thursday, a step that prevents Dollar from serving on the board in the future. Nixon appointed Dollar in December, but the Senate took no action to confirm him.
Senators then took the rare step to deny the governor the ability to resubmit Dollar’s appointment to the commission at a later date.
Republican senators say they barred Dollar from the commission because Nixon did not follow through with a previous commitment to lawmakers to appoint someone from the northern part of Missouri.
Dollar and Nixon’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
