MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Another round of bitter cold has moved into the state as parts of southern Michigan continue digging out from record-breaking snowfall.
The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures dropping as low as minus 11 at Adrian early Friday, with lows of minus 2 to minus 8 at Ann Arbor and Monroe.
Thursday’s highs barely made into the 20s in a few spots after morning lows of minus 8 at Ironwood in the western Upper Peninsula and minus 7 at Port Huron in southeastern lower Michigan.
The cold comes after about 8 inches of snow fell on parts of southern Michigan starting Tuesday.
The weather service says Wednesday’s 7.6 inches of snow at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus broke a Feb. 5 record dating to 1908 of 5 inches.
