GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Furman University has chosen its next president.
The school said Thursday that Elizabeth Davis had been unanimously chosen by trustees as the 12th leader at the Greenville school.
Davis is currently executive vice president and provost at Baylor University in Texas, where she oversees the university’s 11 schools and colleges, as well as more than a dozen research centers and institutes.
Davis received her bachelor’s degree from Baylor in 1984 and earned her Ph.D. from Duke University in 1992.
She takes over at Furman on July 1. Interim president Carl Kohrt has been in office since last May, when Rod Alan Smolla (SMOH’-lah) stepped down after less than three years.
