Jesse Ventura says he’s ‘off the grid,’ hiding from drones

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura — perhaps better known for his high-profile wrestling career — has moved to Mexico to hide out from drones.

In his words, he’s gone “off the grid,” Politico reported.

In an interview from “an undisclosed location in Mexico” with CNBC, Mr. Ventura said he purposely and frequently changes location so that drones can’t find him.

“I’m off the grid,” he said, Politico reported. “I move about with my TV show so that the drones can’t find me, and you won’t know exactly where I am.”

It’s not clear if his comments were made in jest. Mr. Ventura’s television show is called “Off the Grid,” and it’s broadcast on Ora TV. But he did explain his frequent relocations in great detail, saying he could continue his broadcasts “as long as we have solar power, and we can reach the satellite,” Politico said.

“I view the United States, today, much like East Berlin,” he said. “And I’m off the grid. I’ve tried for 20 years to warn the country about the Democrats and Republicans, and nobody’s listening. … I don’t like what I see.”

Mr. Ventura also saw his new role as TV host as a service to the nation.

“I’m solving problems,” he said, the media outlet reported. “I’m a job creator. And I’m not only creating jobs, putting Mexicans to work, I’m stopping them from running across the border, now, and taking our jobs, because my whole staff said that if I wasn’t down here, and I didn’t have them, they’d be coming up to American, looking for jobs.”
