Former 2-time GOP Senate candidate to be honored

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The Connecticut Republican Party is bestowing two-time U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon with its highest honor.

The former wrestling executive has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Prescott Bush Award, named in honor of the late Prescott Bush Sr. of Greenwich, a former U.S. Senator and father of former President George H. W. Bush.

McMahon will be honored at the GOP’s annual Prescott Bush Dinner on April 10. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, grandson of Prescott Bush, will be the keynote speaker.

McMahon, former CEO of WWE, was the Republican nominee in the 2010 and 2012 U.S. Senate races. She lost both elections after spending a total of about $100 million of her own money.

GOP Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. called McMahon “a tireless advocate for Republicans.”
