SAO PAULO (AP) - Brazilian club Corinthians says it has traded ex-AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato to rival Sao Paulo in exchange to former Brazil midfielder Jadson.

Alexandre Pato was one of the players heavily criticized by Corinthians fans who invaded the team’s training center to protest last weekend. His agent told Brazilian media the striker didn’t feel safe anymore and wanted to leave.

Corinthians paid about 15 million euros to sign Alexandre Pato from AC Mlian in 2013 in what was one of the biggest transfers in the history of Brazilian football. The 24-year-old striker struggled, however, and never became a starter at the popular club.

The 30-year-old Jadson was a member of Brazil’s squad that won the 2013 Confederations Cup, but he also had not been playing well recently.
