BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Community and Technical College System could have a new president as early as next week.
LCTCS Board of Supervisors Chairman Michael Murphy of Bogalusa says the plan is to make a selection Feb. 12 from the four candidates interviewed by the full board Friday.
Murphy said he’d like the new president to be seated by or before Feb. 26 when current system President Joe May departs to take a job in Texas.
The Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/1lA8ISS ) May, president for the past seven years, is leaving to take a similar job in Dallas, near where several members of family reside.
May’s salary is about $271,000 a year. His planned departure date is Feb. 26 when his current contract expires.
If the full board makes a decision to hire one of the candidates at its Feb. 12 regular meeting, negotiations over salary and benefits will begin.
Finalists are:
-Deborah Blue, chancellor of the State Center Community College District in California.
-Marie Gnage, president of West Virginia University at Parkersburg in West Virginia, who earned two degrees and previously taught at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette).
-James Henderson, chancellor of Bossier Parish Community College, who earned two degrees at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and formerly was a senior vice president for workforce development with the LCTCS systems office.
-Monty Sullivan, chancellor of Delgado Community College, who earned three degrees from Louisiana Tech, was vice chancellor at Delta Community College in Monroe and was executive vice president of the LCTCS.
