LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 34-year-old Las Vegas man was found guilty of murder for injuring a boy who lived five years before dying of traumatic brain injuries that he received as a 2-month-old baby.

A Clark County District Court jury convicted Edward Thompson Jr. on Monday of causing injuries in 2006 that led to Brayden Grusman-Buckmaster’s death in 2011.

Thompson faces 20 years to life in prison at sentencing April 9.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1e0OpEf ) that Thompson married Brayden’s mother, Monique Bork, two weeks after the boy was hospitalized.

That meant Bork couldn’t be forced to testify against Thompson.

But after the couple was arrested in 2012, Bork pleaded guilty to felony child abuse causing substantial bodily harm and agreed to testify against Thompson.

She’s due for sentencing Wednesday.
