A prominent tea party group announced this week a new superPAC that will focus on the upcoming battle for the Senate in the 2014 midterm races.
The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Super PAC said Monday that its plans was to give conservative activists resources like voter identification software, polling data, direct mail techniques, media training and other tools.
“Our movement has been about organizing grassroots activists to get involved in the legislative process and make their voices heard at all levels of government,” said Jenny Beth Martin, President of TPPCF.
The superPAC outlined a bottom-up strategy that organizers say will differ from the negative, Washington-directed focus of other PACs.
“Unlike other Super PACs that drop in negative ads from their perches in Washington, DC, to trash opponents, TPPCF will empower the people to have the most impact in the targeted districts and states,” Ms. Martin said.
The PAC said it was already working with activists preparing primary challenges to GOP incumbents Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
“We will be expanding the mission into the Mississippi, Nebraska, Louisiana, Arkansas and North Carolina Senate races shortly,” Ms. Martin said.
TPPCF officials say they have assemble the largest tea party network in the country for the often fragmented movement.
“We’re the only SuperPAC with tens of thousands of grassroots activists across the country, and we will make sure they get what they need to elect conservatives and hold elected officials accountable,” Ms. Martin said
