JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - An attorney with experience in federal permitting is the new CEO of the group seeking to advance the proposed Pebble Mine in southwest Alaska.
The Pebble Limited Partnership announced Monday that Tom Collier (CALL’-ee-ehr) has replaced John Shively in that role. Shively, meanwhile, will serve as chair of the board of directors.
Pebble, in a release, says the change will allow Shively to be part of the leadership team for advancing the project.
Shively said Collier’s legal career included a specialty for guiding companies through the federal environmental permitting process. Collier also served as chief of staff to then-U.S. Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt.
