DETROIT (AP) - Mayor Mike Duggan has named a chief information officer to lead the revitalization of Detroit’s technology systems.
Beth Niblock is expected to start work by the end of February.
Duggan’s office says Niblock served in the same role in Louisville, Ky. Her information technology department there won numerous Web and digital government honors.
Niblock was part of a team assembled by the White House to provide assistance to Detroit as the city goes through the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
Duggan says Detroit’s “poor technological systems and infrastructure waste financial resources and negatively affect” the city’s ability to deliver services.
