LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture says 46 percent of Nebraska’s winter wheat crop rated good or excellent last month.

The latest USDA report says 3 percent of the crop was rated very poor, 15 percent poor and 36 percent fair.

The USDA also says last month’s windy, dry weather sapped soil moisture supplies in the state.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 16 percent very short, 44 percent short and 40 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 18 percent very short, 38 percent short and 44 percent adequate.
