MILWAUKEE (AP) - The newest CEO of Microsoft Corp. got his graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Satya Nadella earned his Master’s degree in computer science in 1990. His undergraduate degree is from an Indian university.
The software company named Nadella to the top position Tuesday. He becomes the third CEO in the company’s 38-year history.
UW-Milwaukee emeritus professor K. Vairavan remembers Nadella as a keenly intelligent student who was very focused on academics.
Professor Hossein Hosseini says Nadella had a “burning passion for learning.” He says he always uses Nadella as a good example of student success, as someone who translated big dreams and hard work into a successful career.
Nadella has been with Microsoft for 21 years. He returned to the UW-Milwaukee campus last year to accept the Chancellor’s Innovator Award.
